"The Ghost Problem" is the eighteenth episode of the first season of Harvey Beaks.

Synopsis[]

Fee's prejudice against ghosts gets her into trouble with the ghost librarian, Bartleburt.

Plot[]

Shortly after, Harvey, Fee, and Foo enter the library, and Harvey excitedly asks about a book while Miriam teases him about budget cuts. Fee panics upon seeing Bartleburt, whom she call him a ghost. She alerts everyone, causing chaos and prompting Fee to give Harvey a pan for protection against the "ghost."

Harvey clarifies that Bartleburt is not a ghost and just works at the library. Fee expresses disbelief that someone would hire a ghost, to which Harvey mentions that their mother is the one who hired him. Fee decides to warn Foo about the "ghost," leading to a comical encounter and Fee's realization of Bartleburt's true identity.

In an unexpected turn, Bartleburt gets upset with Fee's comments and quits his job. Miriam and Harvey are shocked by this, and Fee takes charge, declaring that the crisis is over. However, Miriam expresses disappointment in Fee's behavior, and she later informs Irving on the phone about having to work late.

Harvey confronts Fee about her mean actions, suggesting that she apologize to Bartleburt. Fee resists, fearing that the ghost will harm her, but Harvey emphasizes the importance of manners. Reluctantly, Fee agrees to go to Rotbark to apologize to Bartleburt.

Upon arriving in Rotbark, Fee encounters other tree spirits and a dog tree spirit, initially expressing fear. However, Bartleburt's wife, Carol, assures him that Fee means no harm. Fee approaches Bartleburt and is persuaded to hear his perspective. Bartleburt transforms Fee into a tree spirit to give her a better understanding.

Meanwhile, Harvey and Foo continue reading at home when Fee appears at the window in her tree spirit state. They react with surprise but assure Fee that they still accept her. They encourage her to apologize to Bartleburt, but Fee resists, believing her new form exempts her from apologizing.

Later, Fee decides to apologize to Bartleburt, Bartleburt discovers a cleaned-up library with a message asking Bartleburt to return. Fee takes credit for Bartleburt's return as he makes Fee volunteer at the library alongside him. Bartleburt agrees, and Miriam is delighted.

In the end, the scene shifts to the next day, with Harvey and Foo looking for Fee, who returns to her normal form. Foo demonstrates his lack of fear towards ghosts due to Fee's transformation. They find everything worked out well, with Fee no longer a tree spirit, Bartleburt back at the library, and Harvey finishing his book. The scene concludes with laughter as the camera pans out of the library.
